Job Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in our Mental Health Emergency Consultation Service. The successful candidate will provide expert consultative services to 32 Emergency Departments, including Base Hospitals and District Hospitals.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead and model the delivery of complex specialist mental health emergency nursing care and develop specialist clinical practice and service delivery.
  • Develop capacity for the safe and effective management of consumers presenting to EDs with mental distress.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, provide consultancy support to nurses and medical staff, and contribute to the development of clinical practice utilising evidence-based research.


About You:
  • Current Authority to Practice as an RN with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
  • At least 5 years' experience in acute mental health nursing and holding or working towards postgraduate nursing qualifications in Mental Health.
  • Excellent understanding of issues related to providing Mental Health Services in Emergency Departments.
