The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community. Our team is committed to our visions and values, passionately providing support, service, and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
This role involves referral intake, assessment, and crisis response for Aboriginal clients seeking support through a multidisciplinary team. The team delivers high-quality, safe, and effective responses to Aboriginal women, children, men, and families seeking support and safety.
This role provides short-term support and refers clients to agencies for further support where this is identified as a need. The practitioner sits within a partnership between VACCA and Boondarwan Wilam Healing Services and across the wider Hub with mainstream agencies.
The role works within a family and domestic violence service model, including client screening, triaging, risk assessment, crisis response, service planning, and targeted intervention response.
About You- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors and experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with intake processes and comprehensive assessments to determine needs for clients and able to formulate interventions to respond to the needs.
- Proven skills in case management, including ability to identify goals and create a care plan, as well as experience to respond crisis situations effectively.
- Proficient in the preparation of accurate documents and reports in a timely manner.
- Strong ability to have clear, culturally appropriate, and respectful communication skills with individuals, families, and professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in Child Wellbeing assessments and Family violence risk assessments with a knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Best Interest Case Practice Model and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) Framework.
- Requirements: A degree in social work or equivalent, Valid Police Check, Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain), and a Victorian Driver Licence.
