Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Rail Operations team at the Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction for the technical elements of our Queensland Train Manufacturing Program's operations and maintenance phase to ensure our operational readiness.
  2. Stakeholder Management: Lead and sustain productive and positive working relationships between Queensland Rail, contractors, and other key stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for the State.
  3. Rollingstock Delivery: Oversee rollingstock delivery requirements for the QTMP in liaison with QTMP's Rollingstock and Integration Project Lead, ensuring technical content, strategies, and deliverables are approved, monitored for cost and time, and all necessary approvals are obtained in line with contractual obligations.
  4. Operational Readiness: Lead operational readiness for the rollingstock, simulator, and rollingstock maintenance scope elements of QTMP to ensure the transition from delivery to operations is managed effectively and that our people, systems, and processes are prepared in line with the contractual obligations.
  5. Technical Guidance: Provide strategic and technical guidance and advice to senior executives, the QTMP project team, and other stakeholders on rollingstock, simulator, rollingstock maintenance issues.
  6. Culture and Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration with various key stakeholders across QTMP and our organization to ensure contractual compliance by the Contractor and optimal outcomes are achieved.
  7. Team Leadership: Proactive leadership of direct reports (up to 4 FTE and multiple contractors), overseeing all aspects of staff and contractor performance management, ensuring individuals are appropriately skilled, utilized, and scoped to ensure deliverables are on time and budget.
  8. Team Planning: Lead Rollingstock and Integration Team planning (in liaison with Rollingstock and Integration Project Lead), including recruitment and selection, appraising and developing staff/management of contractors, ethical behavior, and decision-making.
