About the Role at Challenger

Challenger is an investment management firm managing $127 billion in assets. As Senior Finance Manager, you will be a trusted business partner driving commercial outcomes and developing financial reporting. This hands-on role involves providing insightful management reports, budgeting, and planning, as well as financial and commercial analysis.

You will take the lead on designing and implementing a new Customer data and reporting strategy, collaborating with Customer, Finance, and Technology teams. Key responsibilities include:

Financial and Management Reporting

  • Understanding Challenger sales results and conducting analysis across Life sales and Funds Management flows and FUM results.
  • Preparing monthly financial packs and Board papers for senior stakeholders within tight timeframes.
  • Preparing quarterly ASX FUM, half-year, and year-end analyst pack metrics, market disclosures, and analysis.
  • Reviewing and redesigning Customer reporting on the Power BI platform.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Collaborating with Finance and the Business to develop the Life sales and FM flows budget and 3-year plan, preparing presentations for senior management.
  • Preparing and maintaining the sales budget and rolling forecast in Anaplan.
  • Supporting Group BP&A to coordinate and consolidate Group budgets and rolling forecasts.

Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, including the Customer Chief Executive and Management Team, and Finance, HR, Life, and Funds Management Divisions.
  • Presenting results and analysis to stakeholders, including the Customer Chief Executive, Group CFO, and business unit owners.
  • Identifying and driving opportunities for efficiencies and simplification.

Sales Incentive Program

  • Understanding and maintaining the sales incentive program.
  • Preparing the sales incentive budget based on annual sales budget targets.
  • Preparing quarterly reporting on tracking the Distribution team's progress on sales targets and forecasting expected payouts.

Requirements and Qualifications

As a Senior Finance Manager, you will need to have strong commercial awareness, business partnering, and financial analysis expertise. You will be organised, dynamic, and a strong communicator with excellent technical accounting knowledge. 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting capacity, ideally in financial services or an ASX-listed environment, is required. You should also have a strong understanding of business and financial drivers, commercial acumen, and the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
