Disability Support Specialist Job Description

This role involves providing personalized support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being.


About the Role
  • Assist clients with daily living tasks such as personal care, hygiene, and grooming.
  • Develop and achieve NDIS goals in collaboration with clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate community participation and social inclusion activities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting a sense of belonging.

Requirements
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker under the NDIS framework is essential.
  • Strong understanding of person-centered care and the NDIS Code of Conduct is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective teamwork and client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial for delivering quality services.
  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document and maintain accurate records of client progress and activities.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to create and implement individualized care plans.
