Job Description

The Production Assistant will be responsible for supporting the delivery of an annual program of events, exhibitions and other public and student engagement activities within RMIT Culture.

This position will work closely with the Senior Production Coordinator to ensure a high standard of presentation for exhibitions, installations, and key Culture projects.

  • Work under the direction of the Senior Production Coordinator (RMIT Culture) to deliver key outcomes.
  • Preparing, installing, securing, and de-installing fine art objects for RMIT Culture programs across multiple sites and galleries.
  • Design and fabricate object armatures to general specifications.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of RMIT Culture inventory of equipment, tools, machinery and materials, and their storage requirements and logistics.
  • Work with the Senior Production Coordinator to improve exhibition technical production facilities, conduct risk assessments and review policies and procedures.
  • In consultation with the Senior Production Coordinator, ensure that preventative conservation standards are upheld in the movement and display of cultural heritage where required (e.g. handling objects for display).
  • Provide informed installation advice to curators, producers and exhibitors.
  • Work with students within RMIT Culture sites to advise/mentor exhibition installation activities and standards.
