Anthropology Professional Opportunities

We are seeking skilled and passionate Anthropology professionals to contribute to the protection of Aboriginal rights and interests in land and waters across the Northern Territory.

The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in anthropological fieldwork and research, strong cultural competency, and a respectful approach to working with Aboriginal communities.

With excellent communication and analytical skills, you'll be able to translate complex cultural information into clear reports and advice.

This is an exciting opportunity for early-career professionals or seasoned Anthropologists to apply their expertise and passion for protecting land rights and cultural heritage.

About the Role

This position involves providing anthropological advice in relation to the implementation of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act 1976 (Cth) (ALRA) and the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA).

You will work collaboratively across all teams, alongside lawyers and other professionals, gaining rich and varied experience.

Your primary focus will be on identifying, representing and assisting traditional Aboriginal owners (TAOs) and Native Title Holders (NTHs) in matters arising from the acquisition, use, occupation and management of their land under ALRA and the NTA.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A degree in Anthropology, or related discipline; or extensive experience in a similar industry or role and minimum two (2) years practical experience. Knowledge of the ALRA and the NTA.
  • Proven ability to research, prepare and draft anthropological reports, associated materials and other documents fit for purpose.
  • Sound time management and organisational skills,
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations on a regular basis
