We are seeking a skilled leader to oversee our Counselling and Phone Service, providing high-quality, trauma-informed support to individuals bereaved by suicide.

This leadership role involves managing a team of counsellors, delivering clinical services, and fostering a collaborative work environment. You will be responsible for direct counselling services, conducting assessments, and providing supervision to staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough bio-psycho-social assessments and risk evaluations for clients.
  • Develop personalized care plans and provide ongoing support through one-on-one counselling and group therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate support groups for bereaved individuals and families, promoting a safe and inclusive space for emotional healing.
  • Lead and mentor a team of counsellors, ensuring professional development and maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for best practice care, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, social work, or mental health.
  • Postgraduate qualification in bereavement counselling or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of supervised counselling experience, including team management and leadership roles.
  • Current registration with a relevant professional body, such as the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
  • Experience in grief, loss, and trauma counselling, particularly related to suicide bereavement.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to supervise clinical practices and foster a collaborative work environment.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or counselling.
  • Certification as a Certified Bereavement Practitioner (CBP) or a related credential.
