Job Title: Principal Internal Auditor
The Local Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Internal Auditor to join our team. As a key member of the Internal Audit team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of Internal Audit objectives by providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and enhance the Council's internal control environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex financial, operational and IT audits, including scoping, fieldwork, developing recommendations and obtaining management remediation plans;
- Complete advisory and special projects as required, providing specialist advice to key stakeholders;
- Perform data analysis, reporting and provide insights to stakeholders;
- Provide high-quality reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Audit Committee on matters of significance;
- Undertake timely follow-up on audit actions to ensure that they have been completed by management and/or reported to the Audit Committee;
- Assist with the preparation of the Audit Committee papers;
- Collaborate effectively and build cross-functional relationships with Risk Management, Legal and other Council leaders;
- Assist with identifying and developing audit techniques, including continuous control monitoring solutions and data analytics programs;
- Mentor and support staff as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Substantial knowledge and experience in conducting complex audits, reviews and providing value-adding advice in respect to governance, internal controls and risk management;
- Significant experience with data analytics and BI reporting will be highly regarded;
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, negotiation and consultation skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders;
- Well-developed people and relationship skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment communicating and motivating effectively at all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service;
- Motivated proactive workflow management style ensuring audits are scheduled and completed within timeframes.
Benefits:
- Degree in Commerce, Business or another relevant field;
- CA, CPA, CISA or equivalent membership status. Qualifications as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) would be highly regarded;
- Current C class driver's licence.
