Job Description

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a highly skilled Product Design Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the design studio, you will be responsible for creating technical drawings and designs that meet the company's philosophy of practicality and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Produce technical drawings and designs in line with the company's design philosophy.
  2. Develop and maintain manufacturing drawings to a high standard, ensuring they meet the requirements of contractors and suppliers.
  3. Represent the company to external agencies, including clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, as required.

Key Activities:

  1. Collaborate with the Design Studio Manager to plan workload and ensure timely completion of projects.
  2. Design and produce accurate and detailed drawings, incorporating clear information and adhering to design studio procedures.
  3. Develop briefs with clients, confirm them in writing, and forward to clients as necessary.
  4. Develop and deliver prototypes to a high standard, meeting specified design briefs.
  5. Liaise with the buying department to manage prototype processes, absorb feedback, and implement required changes on future projects.
  6. Liaise with project management and buying to maintain practical and cost-effective equipment design.
  7. Produce technical drawing packages to the required standard, conveying all design points to clients, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  8. Utilize the company's 2D & 3D CAD software to its full potential.
  9. Maintain CAD and associated files on internal systems, performing weekly housekeeping tasks.
  10. Adhere to the company's procedures for creating, superseding, and maintaining digital files.
  11. Stay up-to-date with current manufacturing techniques and technology in relevant areas.
  12. Meet commitments and work collaboratively with other staff members in a positive and progressive manner.
  13. Maintain supplier information in the design studio library, ensuring access for all members of the studio.
  14. Ensure the drawing register and issue sheets are maintained at all times.
  15. Be responsible for the upkeep of design office consumables.
  16. Ensure equipment designs meet Health and Safety & CDM 2007 regulations and British Standards.
  17. Support other designers on all projects.
  18. Save and print drawings as required by internal teams.

Requirements:

  1. Product Design qualification.
  2. Extensive experience in manufacturing techniques, products, and technical drawing.
  3. 5 GCSE grades C/4 O Levels equivalent, including English.
  4. Extensive familiarity with Microsoft packages and CAD packages, including AutoCAD 2D & 3D.
  5. Ability to read, critique, and produce technical manufacturing drawings.
