Job Title: Collection Services Officer

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the conservation, preservation, storage, movement, packing, display and documentation of a national collection.

Main Responsibilities
  • Undertake a range of collection management tasks including survey, documentation and basic conservation treatment of objects;
  • Display preparation of conserved items for exhibitions and loans, including framing, making supports, and mounting;
  • Conservation standard packing, rehousing and storage of collection items;
  • Coordinate preventive conservation programs, including freezer and anoxic programs, integrated pest management and environmental monitoring;
  • Document collection management activities on a collection management system;
  • Administrative tasks relating to preservation, storage and movement of objects;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to preservation activities;
  • Evaluate and ensure Work Health and Safety guidelines and practices have been implemented and are observed in collection work.

This role requires flexibility and ability to work across multiple teams depending on priorities.

  • Familiarity with collection management systems;
  • Ability to lift heavy loads and stand for long periods.
