Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Observability Champion to join our team. As an Observability Champion, you will play a key role in enhancing our Service Management approach across the technology landscape by developing tools and implementing strategies aimed at strengthening Site Reliability.

The team is committed to scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency, delivering our Site Reliability objectives through the adoption and enhancement of our observability platform.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive the onboarding of systems onto the Observe platform, ensuring smooth integration and usability.
  • Automate observability processes, reducing manual effort and enabling self-service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define and deliver features that enhance system monitoring and insight generation.
  • Own and refine the product backlog, prioritizing features that maximize impact and adoption.
  • Ensure best practices in observability, logging, metrics, and tracing to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Champion self-service capabilities, empowering teams to create and manage their own monitoring dashboards.
  • Define and own the platform engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with ITSM modernisation initiatives.
  • Work with engineering teams, architects, and stakeholders to shape and prioritise technical solutions.
  • Manage a technical backlog, balancing innovation, scalability, and operational needs.
  • Advocate for best practices in automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and cloud-native development.

Requirements:

  • Experience with observability tools.
  • Proficiency in automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to drive self-service capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms and how observability integrates into cloud-native environments.
  • Strong experience in Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to bridge technical and business needs, ensuring the observability platform provides tangible value.
