We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join our team at SSE plc. As a key member of our Operational Technology team, you will play a critical role in delivering projects, enhancements, and upgrades of our key OT systems.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Help introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proof of concepts, research developing industry trends, and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Work closely with the Transmission Control Centre to help them develop, enhance, and simulate their control system.
  • Be involved in the Cyber Security Transmission OT systems, by actively monitoring and reviewing the health and security of these systems. This will include participating in Cyber Response Activities (both actual and mock).
  • Assist the TechOps team in investigating and resolving faults. This may lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.

**Requirements:**

  • To be curious about understanding complex systems and how to monitor, enhance, and improve them.
  • Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in a Computing, Engineering, or Science-based discipline or relevant practical experience in one of these areas.
  • Ideally, you'll have experience in scripting, server management, and databases as well as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, although training will be provided.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team is fundamental to this role.
  • Ideally, you'll have a full, current driving licence, although this is not essential; it will be required if you become part of the out-of-hours support rota.
