Grief Support Coordinator

We are looking for a dedicated and understanding individual to become a part of our growing team at The Salvation Army. This position allows you to be in a revered role, assisting families during their moments of sorrow.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing funeral arrangements, managing all necessary legal documentation and permits, and guiding families through pre-paid funeral options.
This is a permanent full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer compassionate support and guidance to families, providing information on available services and products.
- Coordinate burials or cremations, liaising with cemeteries, clergy, and celebrants as needed.
- Obtain essential permits and documentation, including death registration and medical certificates.
- Plan and personalize memorial services by discussing preferences with family members regarding the style of the service, floral arrangements, and other specifics.
- Provide after-hours support on a rotational basis, including occasional weekends.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, empathy, and a high level of emotional intelligence.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience in funeral planning or related fields dealing with grief and trauma is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Ability to maintain composure and provide comfort in high-stress situations.
- Emotionally intelligent, demonstrating sensitivity and tact.
Role Requirements:
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to travel as necessary.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours when required.
- Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting and setting up equipment.
