About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff SRE Engineer to join our team at Commonwealth Bank. As a Staff SRE Engineer, you will play a crucial leadership role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our applications that support online channels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the implementation and advocacy for SRE principles to improve the reliability and availability of our applications.
  2. Oversee the monitoring of system performance and reliability, and proactively identify and address potential issues.
  3. Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and build scalable, reliable systems.
  4. Develop and maintain advanced automation scripts and tools to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  5. Perform root cause analysis of critical incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  6. Participate in and lead on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.
  7. Continuously improve incident response processes and procedures, setting high standards for the team.
  8. Conduct and facilitate post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned to enhance system reliability.
  9. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  10. Mentor and guide junior SRE team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  11. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in SRE and DevOps.
Requirements
  1. PostgreSQL development - schema design, performance tuning, PostgreSQL management.
  2. AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL management.
  3. Linux, Python.
  4. Source control, GitHub, GitHub actions, Automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform.
  5. MongoDB, MS SQL database development, Oracle database development.
  6. AWS foundation services (EC2, Lambda, Cloudformation, System Manager, RDS).
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  2. Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer).
  3. Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
