Job Summary

The registered nurse is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, patient-focused nursing care to patients and families. In collaboration with the family and other team members, the nurse assesses and monitors the patient's health status, identifies patient/family needs, and develops plans to meet those needs.

The nurse provides direct patient care and evaluates the effectiveness of that care. They may also transport cardiac patients to other facilities. The nurse participates in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients and families
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Assess and monitor patient health status
  • Develop and implement patient care plans
  • Transport cardiac patients as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional practice and professional development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario
Education/Experience
  • Current Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Rescuer (C) recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario
  • ACLS certificate; preferred
  • Specialty certificate in Critical Care nursing, preferred
  • One year experience in caring for cardiac and/or telemetry patients, preferred
  • Experience in rhythm analysis and 12 lead EKG, preferred
