Job Opportunity:

A senior principal software engineer is required to lead the technical direction and architecture of our platform engineering organisation.

  • Shape the forward-looking technical direction and long-term architecture for pillars in the platform organisation.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and design leaders to influence the broader department-level strategy.
  • Ensure that the technical strategy you build is aligned with the technical strategy of atlassian products and platforms.
  • Partner with principal engineers and architects from other teams and guide exploration of large-scale projects spanning multiple teams in enterprise.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of distributed systems, modern cloud-native architectures, and distributed data management. They will also have experience communicating updates and resolutions to senior and executive level stakeholders and other partners to drive the mission forward.

Responsibilities:
  • Mentor, hire and develop other engineers.
  • Inspire innovation by solving complex problems, proposing solutions, and influencing leadership to implement them.

This is a remote role and with sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand providing you have eligible working rights.
