About the Role :

This is a pivotal position where you will oversee and manage compliance, governance, and operational activities related to waste management and environmental practices. It entails ensuring adherence to legislation, safety standards, and organizational policies. This role plays a critical part in delivering sustainability goals and enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and community well-being.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and governance programs for waste and environmental operations.
  • Oversight of day-to-day activities to ensure effective management of assets and compliance with safety practices.
  • Management of contractors and subcontractors to ensure OH&S regulations, risk management protocols, and policy compliance.
  • Proactive identification and management of risks associated with waste and environmental operations to ensure public safety and compliance.
  • Monitoring and reporting on compliance programs to provide solutions for meeting strategic and operational objectives.
  • Expert advice and guidance on compliance issues to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparation and delivery of reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring legislative obligations and organizational governance standards are met across all waste and environmental activities.

Requirements :

  • Mandatory :
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Applied or Biological Sciences, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong knowledge of waste management principles and environmental legislation.
  • Proven ability to research, interpret, and apply legislation, standards, and policies.
  • Valid National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and Driver's Licence.
  • Desirable :
  • Local Government experience
  • Experience in contract management.
