About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Lead to join our team at Coles Group. As a trusted partner, you will coach and develop a team of safety advisors across VIC/TAS to drive a culture of Safer Choices Together across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead a team of safety advisors to increase capability and confidence in integrating safety into our operations.
  • Provide advice to Regional Managers and other members of State Leadership Team to increase their capability and confidence in creating a positive safety culture.
  • Coach and develop a team of safety advisors to increase their capability and support them to implement regional safety plans.
  • Lead and/or participate in key investigations into serious and notifiable safety incidents to understand root cause and contributing factors.
  • Drive safety improvement and risk reduction in key Regions by reviewing and analysing data and working with Safety Advisors to deliver safety plans and actions.
  • Manage all Regulator issues end-to-end, until resolution and build positive relationships along the way.
  • Provide operational expertise into people and food safety systems and participate in self-insurance and governance audits as required.
  • Accessible on weekends and after hours in the event of a serious incident to support safety advisors and operations team.
  • Ability to travel interstate and remote/ regional VIC to support Safety Advisors and Operations team.
About You and Your Skills

We are looking for a candidate with a degree/post graduate qualification in health and safety or related discipline and/or at least 5+ years of experience in managing risk and providing practical guidance to businesses on implementation.

  • Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic business.
  • Proven coaching skills of direct team members and leaders with the capability to drive behavioural change.
  • Proven ability to lead a team with strong stakeholder management and highly developed influencing skills.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and with autonomy making risk-based decisions to drive performance improvement.
  • Be flexible with working between state office and stores.
  • Highest calibre of communication skills.
