Job Title: Kitchen Hand

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Kitchen Hand. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating positive experiences for children through food.

This role involves working closely with the Centre Chef to prepare nutritious meals and purees that cater to different dietary requirements. You will be responsible for supporting the Centre Chef in meal preparation, providing exceptional customer service to families, teaching culinary classes alongside Educators, maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness, and coordinating kitchen operations with excellent time management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Meal Preparation: Assist the Centre Chef in preparing healthy meals and snacks for children.
  • Exceptional Customer Service: Provide outstanding service to families, responding to their needs and queries.
  • Culinary Classes: Teach cooking classes to children and adults, promoting healthy eating habits and food education.
  • Food Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Kitchen Operations: Coordinate kitchen activities, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring efficient workflows.
Requirements:
  • Foood Safety Certificate: Hold a current Food Safety Certificate or be willing to obtain one upon commencement.
  • Working with Children's Check: Possess a current State relevant Working with Children's Check or be willing to obtain it.
  • Child Protection Training: Have current Child Protection Training or be willing to obtain it.
  • Astma, CPR and First Aid Certificates: Hold current Asthma, CPR, and First Aid Certificates or be willing to obtain them.
  • Cooking Experience: Have experience cooking for young children aged 6 weeks to 6 years.
  • Availability: Be available to work 20 hours per week.
  • Flexibility: Be willing to step up into the Chef's role when absent from 6:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday.
