The Health and Safety Specialist will play a hands-on, operational role, providing advice and guidance to stakeholders, ensuring a practical, risk-based approach to health and safety that supports site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular travel to sites within Queensland and Northern Territory to implement and monitor health and safety programs.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate health and safety risks effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive health and safety documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational standards.
  • Provide training sessions to enhance health and safety capabilities within site teams.
  • Analyse health and safety metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support incident investigations and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of safety and engagement throughout the operations.

About You:

  • 5+ years in health and safety management with a focus on project delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in agriculture or a related industry is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in managing health and safety documentation and reporting systems.
  • Willingness to travel across sites within QLD and NT, 2 weeks on average per month.
  • Certificate IV in Health and Safety/OHS.
  • Relevant health and safety auditing experience.
  • ICAM awareness and experience.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or similar is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and health and safety incident reporting systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in challenging environments.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
