Shelter Support Specialist

The Housing/Shelter Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting residents and shelter users. This position requires a unique blend of skills, including empathy, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
This individual will work closely with clients to identify their needs and develop personalized support plans. They will also provide basic life skills training, counseling, and advocacy services to promote independent living and self-sufficiency.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated professional who can build strong relationships with our clients and contribute to a positive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Support: Provide individualized support to residents and shelter users, including counseling, life skills training, and advocacy services.
- Case Management: Develop and implement personalized support plans to meet the unique needs of each client.
- Community Engagement: Build partnerships with community agencies and organizations to access resources and services for clients.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to crisis situations and provide emotional support and guidance to clients.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Education: Diploma in a related human/social service field.
- Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience in a related field.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including:
- Hourly Rate: $31.56 - $33.49 per hour.
- Vacation Time: Accrued at 6% or according to collective agreement.
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage.
