About the Role

The Air Defence Systems Branch (ADSB) is seeking professional, motivated, and experienced APS 6 Engineers to provide support to AIR6500 Tranche 2. As an integral part of the ADSB, you will work with a highly motivated team of people who are committed to delivering this multi-billion dollar capability to the Australian Defence Force.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform critical and complex engineering activities in your technical field under broad direction.
  • Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
  • Apply engineering knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties.
  • Demonstrate systems engineering knowledge and provide advice and recommendations on the development of advancements to established engineering principles.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and motivate and mentor developing engineers.
  • Evaluate delivered materiel meets requirements and legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks.

About Our Team

The recently announced 2024 National Defence Strategy stated that Defence must deliver a layered Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) operational capability urgently. This means there are exciting opportunities to work on this critically important Defence capability.

As an APS 6 Engineer, you will operate within a fast-paced and dynamic working environment, requiring flexibility and willingness to help other areas meet the deliverables for projects, products, and Air Defence Systems Branch (ADSB) more broadly.

What We Offer

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

Previous experience in informal/formal leadership and mentoring is highly desirable. Tranche 2 is delivering and developing within an agile framework, experience in delivery or associated tools is favourable. There are opportunities for Professional Development support and flexible work arrangements.
