About the Role

Are you passionate about shaping a sustainable future and connecting communities with the vital role of water in our lives?

This dynamic on-call casual position offers a unique opportunity to deliver engaging, hands-on education experiences that spark curiosity, build trust, and deepen understanding of the water cycle.

As a Water Literacy Education Officer, you will lead both digital and in-person programs across Melbourne's iconic sites and at vibrant community events.

  • Develop and deliver educational tours and active learning experiences at Melbourne Water sites across the greater Melbourne region.
  • Lead The 'Future Water Story' educational experience using interactive digital technology to engage with key audiences.
  • Actively engage with school and community groups to communicate complex and technical concepts through innovative pedagogies.
About You

We're expanding our team across multiple roles and welcome applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A strong knowledge of learning principles and pedagogy, with experience tailoring educational experiences to accommodate diverse age groups and tour schedules.
  • A background in science, geography, engineering, environmental science, or equivalent experience in delivering educational tours and learning programs.
  • Solid understanding of natural and urban water cycles, with up-to-date knowledge of current water issues and topics related to waterway health.
