Job Title: Water Literacy Educator

About the Role

As a Water Literacy Educator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future and connecting communities with the vital role of water in our lives.

  • You will lead both digital and in-person programs across iconic sites and at community events, delivering engaging, hands-on education experiences that spark curiosity, build trust, and deepen understanding of the water cycle.
  • You will guide tours, collaborate with industry experts, and interact with students, teachers, community members, and industry groups to foster water-wise behaviours and empower people to become stewards of our most precious resource.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering a range of online and in-person educational tours and active learning experiences at various locations.
  • Leading interactive educational experiences using digital technology to engage key audiences.
  • Actively engaging with schools, community groups, and industry partners to communicate complex and technical concepts through innovative pedagogies.
  • Contributing to the evaluation and continuous improvement of sessions through feedback and discussions.
  • Responding to diverse community questions and concerns related to water literacy.

To Succeed in this Role, You Will Need:

  • A strong knowledge of learning principles and pedagogy, with experience tailoring educational experiences to accommodate diverse age groups and tour schedules.
  • A background in science, geography, engineering, environmental science, or secondary teaching, or equivalent experience in delivering educational tours and learning programs.
  • A solid understanding of natural and urban water cycles, with up-to-date knowledge of current water issues and topics related to waterway health.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with school-aged children (primary and secondary), through formal or informal teaching, tourism, or interpretive programs — particularly within water literacy tours and educational initiatives.
