Job Title: Financial Support Specialist

This role involves providing financial support to a busy transport and cold storage business. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, be highly detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced operational environment.

About the Role:

The Accounts Assistant supports the finance function by handling day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accurate data entry, reconciling accounts, assisting with payroll and invoicing, and supporting financial reporting.

  • Process customer invoices for freight and cold storage services
  • Match purchase orders with supplier invoices and process accounts payable
  • Reconcile fuel usage, driver dockets, and vehicle-related expenses
  • Assist in monitoring debtor balances and following up on outstanding payments
  • Reconcile bank and company credit card statements
  • Assist with payroll processing (e.g. timesheets, driver allowances, overtime)
  • Liaise with transport operations and warehouse teams to ensure accurate billing
  • Support end-of-month reporting
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records in compliance with company policies
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business (or working towards)
  • 2-3 years' experience in an accounting support role, ideally in transport, logistics, or warehousing
  • Understanding of basic payroll and award interpretation is a plus
  • Experience with fleet or warehouse management systems is an advantage
Key Skills:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Familiarity with transport/logistics billing systems and terms (e.g. pallet tracking, load rates, demurrage, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Proficiency in accounting software - Xero
  • Competent with Advanced Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with drivers, depot managers, and suppliers
Working Conditions:

This role includes working Monday to Friday 9AM to 5:30PM.
