Job Description

As a Senior Project Engineer within our Roads and Maintenance department, you will utilise your expertise in engineering design standards, construction principles, project management, contract administration, and stakeholder engagement to provide technical support to your unit and other departments.

About the Role
You will oversee the planning, engineering design, and delivery of major capital works projects. This includes reviewing capital works engineering designs, cost estimates, consultant contracts, and tender documentation, making recommendations as necessary. You will also develop and maintain detailed project programs, cost control systems, risk assessments, and quality assurance systems for Capital Works projects.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the planning, engineering design, and delivery of major capital works projects
- Conduct a thorough review of capital works engineering designs, cost estimates, consultant contracts, and tender documentation
- Develop and maintain detailed project programs, cost control systems, risk assessments, and quality assurance systems for Capital Works projects
- Engage, manage, and supervise external consultants
- Coordinate and manage tender assessment panels
- Draft reports, submissions, briefing papers for senior management regarding all aspects of project delivery

What We Are Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and eligibility to qualify for membership in Engineers Australia with several years of subsequent relevant experience
- Professional Engineers Registration in compliance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019
- Experience in civil road and drainage design, traffic engineering, and construction practices
- Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD and 12D for civil road works design
- Well-developed project management experience including budgeting, design, and delivery of Capital Works Projects
- Experience in contract administration and management
- Highly developed organisational and project management skills with the ability to work under conflicting pressures and achieve agreed outcomes
- Well-developed conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
