Protecting Children and Families

The Advanced Child Protection Practitioner plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, stability, and development of children and young people.

The department works with various community-based settings to provide support and services to vulnerable individuals and families.

About the Role

  • Receiving and assessing reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people.
  • Undertaking investigations and developing plans to address case plan objectives within specified timeframes.
  • Oversight of Case Contracted cases contracted to external service providers.
  • Maintenance of open communication between child protection services and the care team for children placed in the KEYS Model of Care.

This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with stakeholders and provision of high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screening and Referral Management
    • Providing relevant information from CRIS to support screening and referral processes.
    • Contribution to risk assessment based on referral information and data analysis.
  • Risk-Based Consultation
    • Recommendations for further consultation with senior practitioners to mitigate identified risks.
  • Collaboration and Liaison
    • Notification and liaison with child protection services for referrals related to open cases.

  • Demonstrated experience in child protection and/or social work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
