Job Title: Principal / Sr. Principal Digital Hardware Engineer

We are seeking a highly qualified Principal / Sr. Principal Digital Hardware Engineer to join our program hardware team located in Alice Springs, AU.

Job Summary:

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing digital communication systems. This role requires a strong understanding of basic communication theory, digital and analog modulation/demodulation techniques, AC & DC electronic theory, and various communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, GPIB, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop digital communication systems, including system, subsystem, unit, and board-level troubleshooting and repair.
  • Develop and modify procedures for alignment and respond to system and subsystem anomalies as required.
  • Explain root cause and fault resolution to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Have experience using oscilloscopes, BER testers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, volt meters, and other equipment used for testing digital communication systems.
  • Provide on-call 24/7 emergency anomaly response to diagnose data and support restoration/repair efforts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus (5) years of experience engineering/technical experience OR a Masters' Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus (3) years of engineering/technical experience OR a Ph D in Science, Technical, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus (0) years of engineering/technical experience OR High School Diploma / G.E.D plus (9) years of engineering/technical experience in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic communication theory, digital and analog modulation/demodulation techniques, AC & DC electronic theory.
  • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
  • Ability to obtain a Do D Top Secret clearance, SCI access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with an SSBI/Counter Intelligence polygraph within the last 4 years.
  • Knowledgeable in BPSK & QPSK waveforms and methods for testing and troubleshooting systems that use such techniques.
Salary Range:

$86,300 - $129,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
