About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Counsellor to work in a region of Victoria. The successful applicant will have expertise in delivering meaningful services that cater to individuals, families, and carers experiencing mental ill health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges.

The role requires utilising lived experience and expertise in psychological clinical therapies, family interventions, group work, care plans, and capacity building. The Counsellor will also be required to deliver services face-to-face, via telehealth, or online using approved counselling modalities.

Staff will have a strong understanding of relational recovery approaches, trauma-informed practice, and peer support principles. The successful applicant will provide one-on-one support and group-based support including Mind Recovery College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise your own lived and living experience of mental ill health and recovery to inform your work and the work of the team.
  • Deliver high-quality counselling services and psychological clinical therapies using established frameworks.
  • Provide integrated care plans and interventions to enhance relationships and achieve goals for individuals, families, and carers.
  • Support clients with capacity building, assertive follow-up, information, and resources to meet their needs.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops or group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on wellbeing.
Requirements
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Family Therapy, or a related field.
  • Able to obtain registration with AHPRA or equivalent accreditation.
  • Previous experience in using lived experience and expertise in a dedicated Peer role is desirable.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic frameworks and practices, including attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and family inclusive practice.
