About the Role:
The Youth Worker, Residential Care will provide care and support to children and young people in out-of-home care and/or living within at-risk families. This role involves being the primary caregiver during shifts, ensuring the safety of young people, and imparting essential life skills to establish a consistent routine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and engage in meaningful activities with the young person
- Be a vital part of a cohesive team dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals
- Promote good hygiene and nutrition
- Maintain daily case notes, handle administrative tasks, and prepare incident reports
- Flexibility is key; you'll be needed for sleepover, weekend, and awake shifts
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field
- Current Blue Card
- Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
- Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- The ability to provide two recent referees of supervisors
- Availability to work across a variety of shifts, including sleepovers

- Ability to engage children and youth in purposeful activities to enhance life skills
- Proactive communicator and relationship builder with others from diverse backgrounds
- Utilize a trauma-informed approach in understanding child development and behavior
- Capability to recognize the role of family dynamics, particularly in child protection contexts
- Supportive of youth in activities and foster independent living skills
- Effectively contribute to team outcomes
- Ability to operate autonomously while seeking guidance as needed
- Able to respond to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance
- Understanding of provision of care in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999
