Adolescent Support Worker Role

At CareSouth, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Adolescent Support Worker to provide individualised 24/7 support for young people living in our Deniliquin program.

About the Position

The successful candidate will work with young people who come from a background of trauma, using their strengths to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention, maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment.
• Encourage young people to develop their social and living skills.
• Undertake household and daily general duties, participate in regular team meetings and training.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Hold qualifications in Residential Care or a related field.
• Possess a Certificate IV in Community Services, Welfare or other relevant area.
• Have a Current First Aid Certificate.
• Understand the impact of trauma on behaviour and development, delivering services based on this knowledge.
• Be able to manage duties associated with home management, working independently and under limited supervision.
• Contribute to the effective operation of the team by supporting colleagues through clear communication and cooperation.
• Work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers.

A Typical Day in the Life

• Supporting young people with daily care and activities.
• Assisting with engagement in education and extracurricular activities.
• Building independent living skills and encouraging achievement of goals.
• Transporting young people to and from appointments.
