Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our Commercial Function on the Sydney Metro West Project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the commercial management of procurement and delivery of TSMO contract packages across this city-shaping project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice on commercial matters, contract negotiations, contract risk allocation, probity, cost benchmarking, and reporting value for money measurement.
  • Lead commercial response to variations, claims, and notices.
  • Offer leadership and direction to a dedicated team of commercial professionals to deliver contract requirements.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews to ensure benefits realization and understand lessons to be learned.
  • Provide assurance relative to the consistency of project tender documentation and contribute to the evaluation of tenders.
  • Manage project insurance requirements and claims, ensuring supplied insurances are maintained.
  • Implement dispute avoidance and resolution strategies in compliance with government guidelines and policies and industry best practice.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience leading commercial teams and having ownership over commercial outcomes on complex, multi-contract infrastructure projects.
  • Experience resolving construction contract disputes and robust post-contract management of Tier 1 Contractors.
  • Ability to work in an environment of constantly competing priorities and manage these priorities to enable completion of projects while delivering day-to-day tasks in required timeframes.
  • Proven communication and stakeholder management skills and ability to develop trusted and productive internal and external business relationships.
  • Preconstruction, procurement, delivery, and general contracting experience critical to success.
  • Experience with industry, supply chain, supplier relationship, and market development initiatives coupled with tertiary qualifications, preferably chartered status.
