Rural Indigenous Health Specialist

This role offers a chance to make a lasting impact in rural Indigenous health by supporting the development of education and training programs for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals. The Clinical Academic will work closely with SQRH and UQ Rural Clinical School staff to identify education and training needs, develop programs to enhance career development and skill enhancement, and engage with Indigenous health organisations and traditional custodians.
- Identify education and training needs for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals in the rural health workforce.
- Develop and deliver programs to support career development and skill enhancement in providing health services.
- Engage and collaborate with Indigenous health organisations and traditional custodians across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.
- Identify partnership opportunities to expand localised cultural safety education and Indigenous health programs.
- Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by identifying ways to enhance rural clinical learning experiences during their placements in the region.
The successful candidate will have broad clinical health experience, at least 3 years of recent practice experience, and a growing profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research. They will be required to provide evidence of being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and must meet current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional representative body.
