Job Overview

The Senior Policy Analyst will develop policy positions in areas including tertiary education, international education, and student visa policy.

The role involves conducting research and analysis to support evidence-based advocacy and representing the company at key sector and political forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze government policy to determine impacts on the company's operations and objectives.
  • Assist with developing the company's government relations strategy.
  • Develop advocacy plans for specific government relations campaigns.
  • Build and manage relationships of trust with government officials, public officials, peak bodies, third-party advocates, and other policy influencers.
  • Prepare submissions for government policy reviews, proposed legislation, and other government consultative processes, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to source content and make recommendations on key policy debates.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to advance proposals to attract government support for key initiatives and policy measures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree with substantial relevant experience, or extensive experience and policy expertise in tertiary education or other complex regulatory environments.
  • A sound understanding of policy, operations, and emerging trends in the tertiary education sector.
  • Experience producing high-quality briefings, policy positions, strategic insights, research, and other written material.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and advising senior leaders.
  • Ability to develop strong, supportive cross-organizational relationships and partnerships.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to incorporate data analysis into recommendations on complex issues.
  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Sound commercial acumen, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work with small teams to develop strategic goals for policy reform.
