Senior Future Energy Engineer Role

The energy industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the increasing demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of the energy landscape by contributing to Distributed Energy Resource (DER) solutions and renewable energy projects.

  • Represent the company in national working groups focused on standardising DER communications protocols.
  • Develop internal standards and procedures for managing aggregated DER fleets effectively, safely, and scalably.
  • Act as an expert on DER connection processes, technical rules, and market regulations to support DER aggregation services implementation.
  • Provide specialist engineering advice across the DER and renewable asset lifecycle to inform strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal cross-functional teams to integrate DER seamlessly into the electricity network.
What You Need to Bring
  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical/Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • At least six years' experience in an engineering role, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of control systems and the electricity grid, including DER integration.
  • Familiarity with DER communications protocols, preferably IEEE 2030.5/CSIP-Aus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.
