The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position involves overseeing a dedicated team of Accounts Receivable professionals. The primary objective is to manage, support, and uphold the integrity of the Accounts Receivable functions and systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure the accuracy of the debtors' ledgers for the organization.
  • Provide mentorship and assistance to team members.
  • Handle daily banking and cash receipting tasks.
  • Allocate and reconcile payments received against customer accounts.
  • Process various invoices, credit notes, and journals.
  • Complete daily sales integrations.
  • Regularly follow up and collect overdue customer balances, focusing on those overdue by 60 days or more.
  • Review and assess credit limits.
  • Create new debtor accounts and conduct necessary credit reference checks in accordance with company policies.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding account inquiries.
  • Prepare collection letters and manage payment arrangements.
  • Complete month-end processes and reporting requirements.

Period End Processes:

  • Ensure all cash receipts are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Process intercompany invoices and credit notes.
  • Generate invoices for miscellaneous charges.
  • Produce monthly debtor statements.
  • Follow up on debtors exceeding 90 days.
  • Ensure trial balances are finalized promptly and accurately.
  • Advise the Financial Controller of any year-end cutoff issues.
  • Assist the Accounting Team in addressing external auditor requests for AR documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller regarding any year-end debtor write-offs.

About You

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Previous experience in a similar capacity with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong numerical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective time management, and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and demonstrate proactivity.
  • Well-rounded skills in collaborating effectively within a team environment.
