Project Management Director

Job Description:

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is seeking a visionary Project Management Director to drive innovation, lead high-performing teams, and deliver impactful ICT programs across the agency.

You will lead the Business Solution Delivery unit, which provides ICT project management and software delivery services. This unit utilises best practice project management methodologies, frameworks, and standards, engaging internal capability, external expertise, and implementation partners.

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and inspire the Program Management Office team, shaping its direction and driving operational excellence.
  • Build a contemporary digital delivery capability, embracing agile and customer-focused approaches.
  • Facilitate the development of cross-functional delivery teams, ensuring compliance with governance, legislative, and financial requirements.
  • Drive the planning and development of project delivery capabilities, fostering agility in both people and systems.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives on program management and opportunities to enhance business outcomes.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and collaboration across projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you'll need to demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, certification in contemporary program and/or project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, Agile), and a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering ICT programs of work.
