About Our Role

The Clinical Liaison Nurse provides expert nursing consultation and liaison with midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patients presenting with mental illness or behavioral disturbance at our hospital.

They work closely with the Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Care service and adhere to established PMH clinical guidelines and pathways of care.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate psychiatric nursing interventions in maternity and specialist wards.
  • Support midwives and nurses in providing patient-centered care.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to provide highly responsive and flexible services to consumers and carers.
Requirements:
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife/Nurse.
  • Completion of a specialist Undergraduate Psychiatric Nursing program or Post-Graduate Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing qualification.
  • Extensive experience in acute service settings.
  • Prior experience in a Mother Baby Unit is desirable.
  • Able to assess and advise on crisis situations.
  • Able to educate nurses and midwives in care management.
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience.
