Job Description

About us, a leading manufacturer with 160 years of experience in the flooring industry.

We are currently looking for an experienced and driven Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Geelong and deliver high-quality general accounting services.

The Role

You will work closely with our Australian Financial Controller and Management Accountant, reporting directly to the Accounting and Reporting Manager. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly financial and management account reports
  • Performing financial accounting services, including journal processing, month-end general ledger close, balance sheet reconciliations, management reporting, and tax support as required
  • Investigating and resolving issues, and implementing processes and internal accounting controls to prevent their reoccurrence

You will also assist in preparing statutory accounts, BAS, tax, and FBT, and provide insight through your analysis regarding business performance to assist our leadership team in decision making.

This role requires full-time on-site attendance at our South Geelong office.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in accounting with 3 to 5 years' post-qualification experience in a similar financial accounting role. You will be CA/CPA qualified or near-qualified.

You will possess high-level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy, and have a positive and proactive approach, with experience in meeting tight end-of-month deadlines for key deliverables.

A working understanding of SOx obligations is advantageous but not essential.

You must have exceptional Excel skills and be a current user of an ERP system, with experience in SAP or JD Edwards being particularly valued. Experience in migrating from one ERP system to another is also highly advantageous.

You will have experience preparing statutory accounts, budgeting, and forecasting, and BAS/FBT returns.

Above all, you'll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to make recommendations and provide advice to various managers and stakeholders.
