About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technology Lawyer - Commercial Contracts to join our team at WaterNSW. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts for our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and review a wide range of commercial contracts, including IT/software and data sharing agreements, construction contracts, and inter-governmental contracts.
  • Provide strategic and technically sound legal advice to enable WaterNSW to assess legal risks and make informed decisions on complex contractual and commercial matters.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide advice and support on legal and commercial issues, including project delivery.
  • Advise on project-related legal issues, contract interpretation, and contractual disputes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of contract templates that support the commercial, operational, and strategic objectives of WaterNSW.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in law with at least 5+ years' post-qualification experience working in-house or with a top-tier law firm.
  • Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory (currently holding or eligible to hold a NSW practising certificate).
  • Pro-active, agile mindset and strong problem-solving and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Significant experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Experience in advising on legal and commercial risks.
