Disability Support Role Overview
This role involves supporting people with physical and intellectual disabilities to promote independence, community participation and meaningful relationships in a safe and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include interpreting and responding to clients' communication needs, health care plans, and mealtime guidelines. This may involve administering medication and documenting observations.
Responsibilities and Key Activities- Client Support: Provide individualised support to clients based on their specific needs and goals.
- Health Care Planning: Collaborate with clients and healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive health care plans.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Accurately document client interactions, progress, and any challenges encountered.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications to clients as required.
- Community Participation: Support clients in participating in their communities and engaging in activities that promote social inclusion.
- Current NDIS Worker Check: A current Working with Children Check must be completed before starting work.
- Certificate III in Individual Support: A Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or Community Services is preferred. However, individuals willing to complete or enrol in this qualification are also encouraged to apply.
- Child Safe Environments Training: Completion of Child Safe Environments training (Through Your Eyes) is mandatory.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module: The NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You must be completed prior to commencing work.
- Competency-Based Training: Competency-based training in Assist Clients with Medication (HLTHPS006 or equivalent obtained within the last 6 months) and Manual Handling (HLTWHS005 or equivalent obtained within the last 6 months) is essential.
- Senior First Aid Certificate: A current Senior First Aid Certificate, including CPR, is required.
- Valid Driver's Licence: A current valid driver's licence is necessary for this role.
- Mandatory Training: All employees undertake mandatory training relevant to their role.
- Remuneration Package: Total remuneration package includes base salary, annual leave loading and statutory superannuation contribution. Salary packaging is available up to $15,900 of your salary, increasing take-home pay by approximately $5,000.
- Additional Benefits: Meal and entertainment expenses, accommodation and venue hire, private novated leasing, and extra superannuation contributions are available through salary packaging.
