About the RoleWe are seeking a highly experienced Workers Compensation In-House Lawyer to join our team. As a key member of our litigation team, you will play a critical role in driving strategic direction, managing litigated claims, and reporting progress and outcomes to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain strong professional knowledge of workers compensation compliance and common law/lump sum settlement trends in relevant states.
- Drive and manage litigation cases, reporting progress and outcomes to internal stakeholders.
- Manage relationships within the legal panel to achieve targeted outcomes.
- Facilitate business understanding of lessons learned from each case.
- Build the capability of the claims team to identify claims with legal potential early and manage effectively.
We are looking for a professional with proven experience in workers compensation management environments and relevant legislative frameworks. You should have a strong understanding of complex litigated and injury claim investigations and management, as well as advanced knowledge of workers compensation legislation and emerging industry trends.
- Degree in Law essential, as is a current Legal Practising Certificate.
- Extensive experience in workers compensation law or personal injuries law.
- Understanding of key regulatory and statutory insurance obligations.
- Experience in risk management.
- Strong liaison, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
