Role Overview

The Senior Project Officer plays a key role in leading the coordination of activities in collaboration with Member Services to co-design and implement the regional TIS Activity Work Plan.

This involves providing central program coordination, direct support to service delivery partners, ensuring alignment with national objectives and Aboriginal community control principles.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic coordination of Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) activities in collaboration with four Member Services to co-design and implement the regional TIS Activity Work Plan.
  • Program coordination and direct support to service delivery partners, ensuring alignment with national objectives and Aboriginal community control principles.
  • Applying health promotion and population health practices to guide program activities and provide expert guidance on evidence-based approaches to reducing tobacco use and vaping in Aboriginal communities.
  • Coordination of reporting on TIS program activities; working with Member Services to collect and analyse data to assess effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribution to building best practice evidence, driving innovation, and facilitating the development and delivery of mass marketing campaigns.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience in health promotion strategies to address Indigenous smoking and vaping is essential. This includes contributing to design and implementation of health promotion strategies aimed at Aboriginal communities, collaborating with community members and applying knowledge of the health promotion continuum and strategies to address smoking and vaping.

Experience engaging with Aboriginal individuals, organisations, and communities to foster relationships and facilitate dialogue is also required. Additionally, experience in developing and co-designing policies, plans and position statements and advocating for systemic change is desirable.

Special Conditions

National Police Certificate is required. Working with Children's Check is also necessary. Ability to travel intra-state and interstate, including overnight absences, is required. Out-of-hours work may be required, and possession of a current driver's licence is essential.
