Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Educational Director to lead the development and implementation of our education program at YMCA Brisbane. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting children's well-being, development, and learning by helping them develop values, attitudes, and ways of living and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the educational program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator.
  • Ensure children's learning and development informs the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices.
  • Mentor and support educators understanding of the educational program and practice, including how to reflect on the effectiveness of their programs, interactions, intentional teaching, and other strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with policy.
  • Undertake administrative requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • Have had sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.
  • Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning.
  • A demonstrated understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and the use of a range of leadership styles.
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, Blue Card.
