About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Secondary English and Humanities educator to join our team at an F-9 school in Tarneit. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to teach students in years 7-9, focusing on English and Humanities subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive English and Humanities curriculum aligned with the Victorian curriculum, covering literature, writing, grammar, history, geography, and social studies.
  • Lesson Planning: Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating lectures, discussions, activities, and projects to enhance students' understanding and critical thinking skills.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Encourage students to think critically, analyse information, evaluate evidence, and draw informed conclusions about humanities topics and issues. Promote research skills and independent thinking through inquiry-based learning approaches.
  • Collaboration: Work with colleagues in English, History, Geography, and other Humanities disciplines to create interdisciplinary projects, units, and activities that integrate multiple subject areas and foster cross-curricular connections.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in Humanities education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration.

Requirements:

  • Unrestricted Working Rights: Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • VIT Registration: Must have a valid and up-to-date VIT registration.
  • Teaching Experience: Previous experience in teaching secondary-level students is advantageous.
  • References: Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
