Disease Diagnostic Specialist

The role of the Plant Pathologist involves providing diagnostic and advisory services on plant health issues. The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment, assessing plant samples for disease symptoms and conducting diagnostic testing to identify diseases and pests.
- The role requires experience in delivering plant health diagnostics using conventional and emerging technologies.
- The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and be able to transfer knowledge to technical staff.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of technical and biosecurity-awareness training to internal and external stakeholders. You will also work collaboratively with other staff in the laboratory to ensure timely delivery of diagnostic activities and quality controls.
This is an ongoing full-time position based in Sydney (NSW), with opportunities to work in other locations across Australia. The successful candidate may be required to travel domestically and internationally as part of their duties.
Please note that this selection process will establish a merit pool for future vacancies in various locations, including Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct diagnostic testing of plant samples to identify diseases and pests.
- Provide advisory services on plant health issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver technical and biosecurity-awareness training to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other staff in the laboratory to ensure timely delivery of diagnostic activities and quality controls.
- Tertiary qualifications in agriculture or biological science, with specialisation in plant pathology and diagnostics.
- Experience in delivery of plant health diagnostics using conventional and emerging technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to transfer knowledge to technical staff.
