About the Role

The company Ventia is seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their team in a permanent position. As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspections and classifications, on a variety of Defence vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspections and classifications
  2. Fitting and operating special test equipment, and test-driving vehicles
  3. Repairing or replacing worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear; dismantling them and checking parts, referring to manuals as necessary
  4. Carrying out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
  5. Diagnosing, repairing and replacing engine management and fuel injection components
  6. Testing and repairing electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection

Requirements:

  1. Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  2. Hold a current Australian State or Territory open driver's licence for Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) classes of vehicles highly desirable
  3. Possess the demonstrated ability and practical experience to inspect, repair and maintain earth moving equipment and/or military armoured vehicles highly desirable
  4. Demonstrated ability to inspect, repair and maintain light, medium, and heavy transportation vehicles
  5. Open and clear communication within a team environment
  6. You must be an Australian citizen and be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance
