GIS Analyst Role

Talis Consultants is seeking a skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Geospatial Team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality spatial data solutions to support our business operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geographic information systems (GIS), with expertise in ArcGIS or QGIS suite of software. You will be responsible for undertaking spatial data processing, capture and audit tasks for asset management projects, extracting pertinent spatial data and related information from client databases, and manipulating it using ETL processes to suit project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake spatial data processing, capture and audit tasks for asset management projects
  • Extract pertinent spatial data and related information from client databases and manipulate using ETL processes to suit project requirements
  • Adhere to data processing workflows and quality control frameworks, while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Produce high-quality cartographic figures
  • Regular reporting, both formal and informal, to team leader and project manager and
  • Provision of general GIS support and technical services across the business, as required

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in GIS or a related spatial discipline, or candidates with relevant technical skills and experience, including those currently studying towards a qualification, may also be considered
  • Experience in ArcGIS or QGIS suite of software
  • Spatial data management, analysis and geoprocessing experience
  • A sound understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products and working within the Windows operating system
  • Knowledge or experience in any of the following will be seen as advantageous: FME, Python scripting, field data capture technology, previous work in a consulting environment
  • An understanding of different coordinate systems and projections and the role they play in capturing data from disparate source
