SMSF Accountant Role Summary

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled SMSF Accountant to join our team, playing a key role in our Melbourne SMSF division. As an SMSF Accountant, you will work closely with professionals on a wide range of funds, requiring strong superannuation technical skills and a solid background in SMSF accounting.

This role involves preparing SMSF workpapers and financial statements in accordance with current legal and accounting standards, liaising with the SMSF auditor, and ensuring SMSFs comply with regulations relating to investments, transactions, and loans.

You will also be responsible for managing workflow to ensure timely lodgements for income tax, GST, and transfer balance account reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare SMSF Workpapers: Prepare SMSF workpapers and financial statements in accordance with current legal and accounting standards.
  • Liaise with Auditor: Liaise with the SMSF auditor, addressing queries as they arise.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure SMSFs comply with regulations relating to investments, transactions, and loans.
  • Manage Workflow: Manage workflow to ensure timely lodgements for income tax, GST, and transfer balance account reporting.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: A degree in Business/Commerce with an accounting major.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Skills: Proficiency with Class Super, strong communication and interpersonal skills, technically sound in all aspects of SMSF administration and compliance, excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Certifications: CA qualification or working towards completion, SMSF specialist course completed or in progress.
